In cooperation with three universities in Japan and Malaysia, two online events were organized in March 2021 to continue the exchange between the two countries.

Since the global pandemic halted all the international flights in 2020, all the regular activities that the Japan Malaysia Association organized were also suspended, including the forestation trips or student internship programs.  To revive the friendship between Japan and Malaysia, the JMA organized online seminars with International Islamic University Malaysia from the Malaysia side, and Fukushima University and Fukuoka University from the Japan side.

The online seminars held on the 2nd and 4th of March were initiated by the JMA but fully steered by students in the end, and were attended by nearly 300 students in total to study SDGs and other environment related issues, which were broadcasted on YouTube
