Vice Chairman Haruko Arimura pays a courtesy call on the Premier of Sarawak

On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, a delegation from the Japan Malaysia Association paid a courtesy call on Tan Sri Abang Johari, Premier of Sarawak, at the Premier’s Office in Kuching, the state capital of Sarawak, Malaysia.

Premier Johari is the son of the first Governor (Yang di-Pertua Negeri) of Sarawak. He has served as a member of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly since 1981, holding a series of key state portfolios before becoming Premier of Sarawak in 2017.

Vice President Arimura thanked the Premier for receiving the delegation, introduced the work of the Association, and reported on its tree-planting achievements in Sarawak. She explained that the Association has planted approximately 900,000 trees in Sarawak to date, and that the milestone of one million trees is expected to be reached the year after next. In response, Premier Johari expressed his appreciation, saying, “Thank you very much.”
