On 26 July 2017, Japan Malaysia Association celebrated its 60th anniversary at Kaitokaku(開東閣).  The ceremony was attended by H.E. Dato’ Ahmad Izlan Idris, Malaysian Ambassador to Japan, and over 60 guests from the two countries, including JMA sponsors, Japanese parliamentary members, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as other renowned guests.

The event was started off by a video message from Shinzo Abe, the prime minister of Japan, who sent a congratulatory message to JMA recognizing the friendship exchange, reforestation work, and all other achievements made by the Association in the past 60 years.  Ambassador Dato’ Ahmad Izlan Idris and Kiyoshi Odawara from the MOFA followed to speak on the history between the two countries and the contribution by JMA.
